Percy Jackson is a demigod, the son of Poseidon, one of the “Big Three” Greek gods. He is powerful and admired by the other gods.
He has several supernatural powers. He can manipulate water and currents; he can breathe underwater; he can operate old sailing ships; he can create small earthquakes and hurricanes; he can speak with marine animals, equine animals, and some of his relatives; he can communicate with water nymphs; and he can control the weather.

Percy has a strong bond with his dog, Mrs. O’Leary, who he receives from Daedalus before the inventor dies. She can “shadow travel” to cross large distances almost instantly, and she is a great source of comfort for him.
His other friends include his brother Tyson, who is a great fighter and is always ready to help his brother in combat; Charles Beckendorf, a magic javelin manufacturer; and Carter Kane, who was Percy’s mentor at Camp Half-Blood.
